A European based pharmaceutical company expected to define problems it was facing with its distribution and pricing structure and also to explore growth opportunities in non-target segments in order to develop strategic marketing plans for the Chinese market.

South Sphere was assigned to conduct an in-depth research in 10 cities through interviews with various stakeholders in the channel, including retail pharmacies, physicians of hospitals and clinics, wholesalers, and pharmaceutical or distribution specialists. On the basis of the information collected, a thorough analysis was presented with focus on the client’s distribution and pricing situation by benchmarking with common and best practices in the market. In addition, our research also included an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the client vs its key competitors, identifying growth opportunities in untapped and niche markets as well as threats under current market conditions. Recommendations were addressed on how to tackle the problems and what need to be taken into consideration when developing strategies to further expand target segment and explore non-target segments.
